139. Capture

I got to thinking the other day about how popular movie tropes have defined what the process of capturing and releasing a soul looks like. I wondered whether it was indeed possible to trap a soul, something that remains intrinsically separate from the material plane, within something that is material. I came to two conclusions.

Firstly, that hollywoods portrayal of the capturing of a soul is pretty hard to rationalise and frankly, these visualisations tend to only fulfil my need to be entertained, as opposed to hold any lasting meaning.

Secondly, that I deem it highly possible that a soul can be trapped. But not in the way that this line of thinking permits. I believe that souls are pure and conscious loving energy and that their very existence within a human frame is restrictive of their full potential. Additionally, ones choices in life can further restrict the minds hold over the soul.

Is there such a thing as a genie in a bottle?

Not quite.

Unless of course you see yourself as the bottle within which the genie resides.
