220. Brave

I noticed this statue when walking around Toronto the other day and it really made me think about what it means to be yourself. With so many hateful, vicious and unhappy people in the world, willing to confront you for being authentic to who you are, it can often-times be hard not to supress ones authentic self under a smothering sea of conformity. I wrote this as a call to all those considering purveying anything but their beautiful honest self.

Be brave enough to be yourself,

for all your quirks, your foibles, work.

As it cannot be known when your luck will run cold,

When you will return to the earth.
