278. Helping

I recently helped a blind boy cross a busy city centre road. As we waited for the traffic to pass and the lights to change we hurried introductions and talked about our lives. By the time the light had gone green,  I was completely enthralled as to how he managed his daily life. It was heroic. As he parted, he left me with this thought: ‘Life never gives you challenges that you can’t overcome, it’s just about keeping trying – however long it takes’. Inspired, I wrote this haiku.

Challenged by tough fate,

We break through with every day,

Surviving we win.
