About reaching two years in a committed relationship…
If it hasn’t really felt like two,
Or the goal don’t matter,
But it’s right,
And you still like cuddles in the night,
If the spark has dimmed,
But glow ignited,
You’ll make it,
To three.

So appreciate this and the way your mind distills so many meanings into a little package! I’m 19 yrs in, and the sparks don’t always fly, but there’s a warmth and a bond I wouldn’t trade 🙂

The phrase ‘Great things come in small packages’ is one I’ve found hard to accept, considering I’m 6 foot 4 in height. 😉 that said, with writing I find the sweetest thoughts are often the shortest.
19 years in is an incredible achievement. Congratulations! remember an ember glows longer than a spark.

Thank you, Eli! Sweetest thoughts are the shortest? We women could take a lesson there 😀 Don’t you just love the distinct pleasure of finding the perfect word?!

There is something utterly glorious about finding the right word.
That’s the exact stage I’m at with the book i’m writing. Looking at every word and asking ‘do I need you?’

Yes the sparks help carry on the flame, the burning. Nice poem. The heart follows the mind, the mind can decide to keep the commitment to look at the bright side.
